Vangent announces Innovation Unit
17th April 2007
Vangent, a leading global provider of information management and business process outsourcing services to
government, housing and the commercial sectors, has announced the formation of an Innovation Unit. The
unit will incorporate Vangent’s heads of Business Process Improvement, IT Enablement, Operations,
Training and Telecommunications. Created to provide a focus and a knowledge repository for the company’s
pioneering approach to the development and delivery of shared services, the unit will enhance Vangent’s
ability to deliver innovation and excellent service to its customers.
The unit will be led by David Hemmings, head of transformation, who has overseen Vangent’s pioneering work for Southwark Council. In less than two years, Vangent has implemented a major customer service operation for Southwark which has achieved seven figure cashable Gershon efficiency savings and seen the complete restructuring of a complex inner- city LG authority, enabling end-to-end service effectiveness. Southwark Council’s success with the transformation of its customer service centre has again been recognised as finalists for “Best Project, delivering efficiency” in the 2007 Government Computing Awards and also the Professional Planning Forum's Innovation Award.
Vangent has also launched an Innovation Award programme to recognise individual contributions from within the company.
“Efficiencies, innovation and the delivery of transformational services are firmly on the agenda of government and business. We want to give a focus to Vangent’s commitment and track record to working in partnership with our customers to help them achieve this. Setting up the Innovation Unit helps us to harness the best thinking and the best practice, and apply this for the benefit of all our clients. Our work together with Southwark Council has been lauded in the industry for being one of the most outstanding examples of innovation, and we are bringing this experience and dedication to benefit our other clients,” said Stephen Meyler, Managing Director, Vangent Ltd.
